I've only seen the English version with Kenneth Brannagh but I do enjoy them. Certainly one of the best detective series on the TV.

Kenny B seems too handsome (and perhaps too young) to be the shabby old detective Wallander should be.

There was a good cameo by Svartmann off of the Swedish series in this week's UK episode.

It's not just the lead though, it's the rest of the cast. Swedish version for me, every time. With Branagh, that's all there is, the other characters might as well not exist.

I've voted Henriksson. Probably because his were the first version I saw.

Just seen this posted on a website

A web site said:
One of this blog's regular readers has tipped me off about a letter in the Radio Times revealing that this Christmas will be something to look forward to at least for BBC4 viewers:

BBC4 will be showing four Wallander films starring Rolf Lassgård over the Christmas period: 'The Man Who Smiled', 'One Step Behind', 'Firewall' and 'The Pyramid'. Plus there will be an unspecified number of Montalbano episodes. The second series of Wallander with Krister Henriksson will be repeated next year
Not seen any of the Rolf Lassgård Wallender films so will have to watch these.

Documentary tonight at 9pm on BBC FOUR, followed by part II of one of the Wallander Movies (part I was on Saturday evening).

I'm quite tempted to have a bit of a road trip to Ystad, and a few days camping in the area maybe.

Yep he is a bit of an oaf, aren't we all. I know I am. paperbag

Mentioned on the other thread, the problem fo me with the Henriksson series is that some of the procedural stuff is just too TV drama-ish.

For instance a couple (at least) of instances across the series where they, to quote the street vernacular, pop a cap in some scrote's ass in circumstances where in RL a major st storm would descend from on high just for discharging a weapon in those circumstances never mind executing the bloke, even if they were a known scrote.

Then we have the young woodentops (uniforms) standing around while a wounded 62 year old bloke goes swimming in icy water doing a rescue. Sod that for a game of soldiers.

So my vote would go for Lassgård, if it were in the poll.

So what's going on here then?

Radio Times says part 2 of 2, I checked on the BBC FOUR website and that too says part 2 of 2.

How the fk did I miss part 1? I was really looking forward to this frown

Sad info, but Linda Wallander played by Johanna Sollstrom, committed suicide in 2007. smile
She and her daughter survived the Tsunami in Thailand whilst witnessing many fellow Swedes dying, although this may have just been the last straw that made her crack.

Shame, she was well fit.
