Hi all

I am looking for new tyres for the MiL mundane 1.5 Almera. She drives about 3 miles a day (0.7 miles to work and back, twice a day). There are some Hankook Optimo K415 on offer on black circles (£43 a corner) which bring them to almost budget range price. She drives literally like miss daisy, but on the odd weekend long run I don't want her running around on linglong's that I recommended, just in case!!

Any opinions on this brand? Next "branded" tyre is looking like a continental eco contact 3 at £5 a corner more expensive. Or Toyo proxies at £7 a corner more expensive.

I'm sure they will be fine.
VW fit them as OEM on certain Golfs.

The wife changed from Continental Eco Contacts to Hankook Optimos on her Primera and noticed
a big difference in road noise, the Eco Contacts were deafening.

Think my rating would be
Hankook Optimos = Adequate and quiet
Conty EcoContact = Crap

Ran Hankook RS2s on my Integra Type R, as do quite a few other owners as the origional Bridgestones are no longer available. Excellent tyres, the RS2 was verging on a semi slick but stuck to the road like st to a blanket and wore well. Great value as well!

Was at a Vauxhall dealer yesterday and loads of new Astras were on Hankooks.

I would have no worries about them what-so-ever.

I'm getting 4 new tyres on my Volvo V70 (2002) and Hankook V12 EVO are "only" £75quid(ish) per corner, which is reaonable in my size/speed/load rating - 225/45 R17 Y (94).

Any reason I shouldn't go for them on what is a big heavy bus of a car???

ps...Next monday is going to hurt, it's going in for 4 new tyres, transmission flush, BIG service, rear discs/pads and try and fix the rear heated screen/seat warmer....thats gonna be £££££££££££££££ frown
