My S Class is due a service C and up to now has been serviced at main dealers. It is a 56 plate and has about 66k on the clock. I'll probably hang on to it for another year or so.

Any views on how much the value may be damaged by getting it serviced at an independent (M-Star in Radcliffe) and what the cost difference is for a service C between main dealer and independent?

Thanks

(They only do A and B services nowadays)

Stratstones MB in Leeds....

A service (minor) is £204 all in for cars over 3 years old.
B service (major) is £394 (ditto)

MB-Star in Radcliffe

A service £160+VAT
B service £260+VAT

The Mercedes prices are a fking disgrace to be honest - for both A and B services the only thing they do is change the oil and filter. Everything else they do is "check" - for the B service they just check more stuff. Maybe.

My SL was booked into Merc Leeds tomorrow and I cancelled it yesterday - £394 for an oil change is a disgrace - I realise that it's not as simple as that but it really gets me that everyone harps on about "never by an MB without dealer history" and all they do is change the oil and check stuff. That's all the stamp in the book means. I don't need anyone to check my bearings, check my filters, oil my hinges - I do this stuff myself cos I look after my car properly!

Cheers for that. The car is piling the miles on, but feels and looks like new so as I intend to keep it longer term I'll go down the independent route.
