Next door has a monster of a beech tree in their garden, just on the other side of the fence, and it's complete with a TPO. They've just applied to have it pruned by 20-25% and we have recently received a copy of the application etc asking for opinions of the proposed chopping, as have 5 other neighbours.
I'm very keen to show my support of this idea (although I'd be even happier with giving it a 50% haircut!) and wondered if there were any key points to make on the form which will help persuade the council put a tick in the 'approved' box?

You can only state why you would like the tree reduced, less leaves in the garden, more light in the house/garden,maybe it's casting shade on the lawn which encourages moss to grow, or is it dropping branches and therefore causing danger to your family.

We have two trees which did all of the above, lifting the crown made a world of difference, strangely enough 25% is what the council would allow on ours.

That all makes sense, mainly because it's pretty much spot on what happens. biggrin
