Got it - first thoughts
Discussion
Picked my Tuscan up on Saturday and entered a brave new world of TVR ownership.
This car is so unlike anything I have ever owned (a string of Japanese rockets).
After 24 hours (and a puncture) I was seriously thinking 'what have I done?'. The car is a rough diamond, and the long bonnet, low seating, and a cold engine that sounds like a tractor was certainly taking some getting used to.
When the sun came out though and the roof came off the grin started to increase. I haven't gone down a full tank of petrol yet and I am already starting to feel more familiar with the car. I guess what hasn't helped me is coming to terms with:
a/ the amount of money I spent (its a record for me on a car)
b/ the amount of niggly little things that can be wrong all at the same time
This forum has alayed many fears about the problems, although I have created a list as I'm to expect a courtesy call from the dealer in 2 weeks time, and the problems won't go unmentioned, including:
1/ Nasty misfire at high revs - intermittent. Spotted on test drive and was assured they had fixed it with new ht leads, but it's still there. I'm guessing throttle bodies, but what do I know?
2/ A couple of lines on the pod lcd were out, and they said they would arrange to get it sorted, although they have miracoulously started working today :-)
3/ Air vent on pod has dissapeared back inside the car
4/ Passenger window does it's own thing. 2 passengers have now managed to foul it on the A-pillar.
5/ Rear screen sounds like two pieces of polystyrene being rubbed together whilst driving.
6/ Pod gives a diagnostic: 0 ever time on startup
7/ Oil temp never reaches 80 degress, despite the manual saying normal operating temp is 80-120 degrees.
Some of these things I can sort myself, I'm not afraid to get the spanners and grease out (and glue a bit of velvroe here and there).
It's amazing how many of these things I didn't notice until I took delivery of the car - little bit of Gruen syndrome me thinks.
Anyhow, I do think I'm going to enjoy it, but it's going to take some time to get a 'feel' for it and accept that things go wrong. Friends have told me that it was over a month with my last car before I was saying I was enjoying it (1997 RX-7), and after 4 years of ownership I can't say a bad word about it.
I guess I'm just a funny b*gger :-)

6/ Code 'O'
Don't worry, the earlier portion of production all do that - its perfectly normal.
.
Back window maybe needs some velcro or silicon tape.
Window encoder may need replacing in passenger door - cost about £25, but no doubt your dealer will be coughing for that, its a simple job really.
Enjoy it though, the niggles are part of the ownership experience but can be "worked on" and hopefully eradicated. Its a TVR, not a Tuscan, thing.

Congrats Phil, I was the same when I got
mine about 3 months ago.Bought mine private
and had lots of things to sort on the car.
Now I have a feel for the car I can honestly
say I love it.As for your misfire I had a nasty
one too at about 6000+ rpm but after seeing a
previous thread about a De-throttle chip I had
one fitted at HL Gorner and all is now fine.
Good luck with the car, after a few weeks you'll
wonder how you did without it

My LCD screen lost it's bottom lines and the whole pod went back to Blackpool for 2 weeks(!) to have the screen replaced under warranty.
Did you drive it for the two weeks whilst the pod was out? I've got a few missing lines and I'm debating just using the GPS to give me speed readings for the time it's away (although temperatures, etc. will all be a guess).
