Here is another legacy of the last Labour Government still dragging on!

Local Rag said:
Portfolio Manager Rej Bangar was warned by one of their tenants, Mr Timothy Davey, about very substantial drug dealing taking place on Network Rail owned premises at The Former Royal Oak Station, 177-179 Harrow Road, London W2 6NB close to Paddington Station yet took no action.
In January 2006 Timothy Davey, one of the tenants at the estate, instructed Bailiffs to evict the drug dealers. The following day the drug dealers returned with a gang armed with baseball bats, terrorized the Bailiffs and retook possession of the premises. Mr Davey consulted Rej Bangar of landlord Network Rail Infrastructure Limited who advised him to issue Court proceedings against the drug dealers. This Mr Davey did through his company, The Royal Oak Property Company Limited.
A Court date was set for April 2006, but prior to the hearing Network Rail stopped co-operating with Mr Davey and his solicitors, who discovered that Network Rail had given the drug dealers a lease of the premises direct. The drug dealers threatened to kill Mr Davey and caused Mr Davey’s business on the adjoining property enormous problems. Mr Bangar left Network Rail and was replaced by Mr Andy Bacon as Portfolio Manager. Mr Davey was successful in the Court proceedings and was awarded damages and costs of about £75,000. The drug dealers subsequently in open Court blamed Mr Davey for their downfall.
Throughout 2006 Mr Bacon assured Mr Davey that Network Rail were aware of the problems and dealing with them. Mr Bacon stated by e-mail to Mr Davey in September 2006 that the drug dealers’ occupation was unlikely to be ongoing. However, just a week later Mr Bacon wrote to the drug dealers offering to vary their lease in order that they could carry on activities in direct competition with and very damaging to Mr Davey’s business.
In February 2007 Mr Andy Bacon and Network Rail evicted Mr Davey from the site and took over the agreements Mr Davey had with others.
In February 2008 in the largest ever co-ordinated drugs raids carried out by the Metropolitan Police the drug dealers were arrested. Eyad Iktilat, Stuart Wright and Maythem Al-Ansari were the key players arrested and convicted, receiving sentences of 21 years although an Attorney General’s reference applied to the Court for an increase in the sentences as they were considered too lenient. The drug dealers’ solicitor was arrested with them!
When arrested 110kgs of cocaine was recovered, most of it from the Network Rail owned premises, £3.5 of proceeds of crime and loaded firearms were also recovered from the Network Rail owned premises. The drug dealing cartel had involved £100 million in just 6 months and been centred on the Network Rail owned premises.
Remarkably just a month later Andy Bacon and Network Rail Infrastructure granted a new lease to the drug dealers.
Network Rail and Andy Bacon have attempted to cover up their involvement but it has been confirmed by Court documents which Network Rail have attempted to keep secret. Court proceedings between Mr Davey and Network Rail are ongoing with Mr Davey claiming damages of £1.5 million and Network Rail attempting to bankrupt Mr Davey as a result of his refusing an offer to settle, a condition of which was that he kept secret the involvement of Mr Andy Bacon and Network Rail as well as a condition that he kept secret the settlement itself!
A Court date for the next hearing in the matter has been set for Monday 22nd November.
Sounds like Mr Davey is being taken for a ride by the state! Disgraceful!

By the State? WTF are you talking about? Couple of people at Network Rail maybe.

Did you see what I did with the quote? Better, isn't it? (easier to read)

Network Rail was set up after Labour re-nationalised Railtrack! Just who do they think they are? Why are they defending drug dealing arabs?

I figured £100million and 110kgs of the finest nosebag would have answered that question?

I'm aware of who Network Rail are, and that they are a state owned company. If a couple of Network Rail employees have done bad stuff, have a go at them, not 'the State'! rolleyes

NR are guilty of exercising poor controls over their operations but that's about it. I agree with you that sounds like a stitch up by a couple of employees who played the system.

OP, I get the feeling that you have some kind of personal interest in this, and I would also like to know which newspaper the report appeared in, and when?

You should really stop trying to involve the government and Network Rail in this too. There may well have been some wrong doing on the part of an NR employee, but that's not the same as the whole firm doing wrong.

At the time of offence it would have been managed by 'spacia' it has only just been merged with NR in the past few months.

Network Rail was created by bLiar and Nu-LieBore. It is a quango and not a firm.

I have no real interest except Mr Davey is friend of a friend. The paper was the Paddington Observer, a free sheet.

Network Rail are wasting public money with this case against Davey. We all should be interested!

Not one that Google are aware of. Nor is the "quote" written in a style that I have ever seen in any paper anywhere.
