Having had countless troubles with my own car (Espace).

The Mrs is now having great trouble keeping her screen from misting up inside to the point of dripping with condensation when she returns to it at the end of the day / morning. furious

The aircon has run out in a timely and annoying fashion, and it would appear its storing up moisture to hinder any given trip.

This might seem minor, but im so sick of everything to do with Renault, I cannot wait to get shot of both of them!

Any good short term ideas for keeping the condensation at bay until we can get rid of these hideous pieces of automotive st would be greatfully received!

Sounds to me like the matrix is leaking, not unknown on Renaults. Is the coolant level dropping over time, even a little? It only takes a little leak to mist up the interior.

Maybe you need to get an additional heat source in the car to dry it out.

Might i suggest a nice little bonfire on the back seats

I have this concern as well - and if it is Im assuming big bucks for someone to pull the dash out and check it out!?

(Hence me not rushing to fix the aircon until this is rectified)

Following all the aforementioned hassle Ive had with Renault its pretty much a straw breaking a camels back with this. I've suggested we pick a dry day and head down to a dealership (of another manufacturer obviously) and chop it in for someone else to have the joy of fixing.

Ive had problems with other (makes of) cars in the past - but nothing like the catalogue of cr@p we've had with the Renaults - and these are the newest cars both of us have owned!

That'll teach me for trying to scrimp at the outset and just settling for Renault I suppose - although neither of us really thought we were scrimping at the prices we have to pay here (Belgium). It is truly frightening!

Usually a sign of moisture in the car due to leaks including the matrix as mentioned above.Check your carpets for dampness and also your bootwell for leaks.

Soo..

You haven't been servicing the aircon. Now it's not playing ball. And it's all Renaults fault, wah wah waaaah!

Am i about right?
This car has been serviced at a Renault dealership since we've owned it - The Mrs wasnt happy to take it to a indy 'just in case'...

80% of steamed up cars only need a new pollen filter.

Does it smell musty and 'orrible as well?

Check the sound deadening mat under the carpets - any leak, or being left with open windows, or lots of trailing water/snow into the car will cause the sound mat to soak up water . . . and then it all gets released over the warmer day, especially if you have the heat onto your feet, and condenses on the screen overnight.

And have you checked the heater/scuttle drains for leaf mould and rubbish - if they are blocked, all the rain water gets fed into the heater, and either blown up onto the screen, or drains out onto the floor . . . see above . . .

And turn the air inlets to fresh, not recirc!

Have a quick at the pollen filter too. On my last car a drain plug near the wipers got clogged up with crud which deposited any rainwater straight onto the filter, it was sopping wet and changing it cured the problem.

I found removing the filter instead of replacing gave me 10x more flow of air. Especially useful on freezing mornings.

CHECK YOUR POLLEN FILTER!!!!!

Sorry for the caps. My Galaxy has a sodden pollen filter and steams up unless I put the air con on, tis a common problem. I would advise swapping this before spending money elsewhere.

I have bought a new filter but I need the arms of a two year old gorilla to get to it.
