It's okay I'm not talking about lowering it 90mm on 24inch chrome alloys wink

But I saw an advert in the classified for a service down south where the chap can communicate via the diagnostics port to reset the ride height at the four presets.

Always thought that it is strange that the motorway cruise rideheight is only 10mm (?) lower than the normal rideheight rather than 30mm like the lowest setting - I would think that for better roadholding and reduced drag, a lower CoG would be beneficial on a long journey? Would it hurt to drop the middle two settings a little? Access into carparks would cause less anxiety too! Obviously the offroad height setting would still be available if clearance was an issue but I just don't do much offroading on the daily drive...

Is there a downside to adjusting these settings, like increased wear on suspension components etc?

More importantly will it go well with my upcoming limo tints and new chrome spinners smile

There's not enough travel in the suspension when in access height to be driving alomg at high speeds on potentially uneven roads. You'd be hitting the bump stops.

Fair enough, if there's a downside I'll give it a miss. Thanks for the feedback

Not sure what the 'stop it' comment was about though. It's a standard car and I'm thinking in terms of fuel economy and road holding not 'pimp my ride'... but hey, feel free to judge.

When I bought my L322 it had been recalibrated to sit about 50mm lower than standard. It wasn't too bad like that, but when it then lowered further in motorway mode it barely had any more travel... I used to have to lock it out to stop it from lowering further. It also looked wrong in my opinion (like running around in access mode), and it was a right pain getting it reset to the proper height although JE got it sorted for me in the end.

Also bad for off road as (on my car at least) the extended ride height was a fixed increase from standard - ie. was 50mm too low also.

You'd might have to re-set all the geometry too; in my car the steering feels heavier while trundling around in access mode so there must be some changes as it drops.

Surely ride comfort is more important than ultimate handling on a L322 anyway (even if it were to improve the handling); it's never going to be sporty. In my opinion, leave it well alone! smile
