With a competetive car I wouldn't rule him out, he has been getting stronger and more competetive with Rosberg as the year went on, in Abu Dhabi he looked genuinely quick.

If he can win next year on the same grid as Hamilton, Vettel, Alonso and to a lesser extent Button then I'm sure he'll retire as 'the greatest' having proved his point.

If Schumi struggled against Rosberg, god knows what Vettle would do to him!

People forget that Webber is a very good qualifer, and even he has been out done by Vettel.

It'd be impressive if he were to manage it and I certainly would never rule him out, however 2010 has been his first full season in F1 without a win and this year he's not got close.

The Mercedes hasn't looked like a nice car to drive looking at either driver's in board camera and it's been inconsistent this year.

On the plus side, if he can get that car around him like he could in 2004 and it has the speed in it then maybe. He never made as many mistakes in a season back in the day as all of the top 5 have this year.

That said, he never span out like he did in Abu Dhabi either

Why? I think that with a good car that matches his driving style he has every chance of being a front runner next year. His performances have looked very good in the second half of the season and he has ran Rosberg close too. If Mercedes can find the time they lacked this year then I think that we could end up wih a Red Bull (Vettel/Webber) type battle on our hands with Schumi & Rosberg.


I'm sure that as always you will let your clouded judgement on everything Schumacher does help come up with some sort of repost to that.........but if next year things turn out the same then st happens but to write off any world champion let alone a 7 time world champion before a wheel is turned is pure idiocy!!

I have a sneaking suspicion that if Mercedes can give him a car that gives him even a whiff of a win, he'll raise his game and we'll start to see the old Schumacher coming back (for better or worse) its like a drug to him, he craves it in every part of him.

I'd love to see both Mercedes boys, the McLarens, the Red bulls and probably just Alonso's Ferrari and who knows maybe even the Renaults going at it hammer and tongs next year.

Someone saying if he gets a good car that suites his driving style is laughable as every driver in the top 10 could say the exact same thing. Schumi was supposed to be a step above, the greatest, someone that could work around difficulties. He has shown that he is no better than any other driver in the Top 10. I guess some of us noticed this in 2005/2006 when Alonso had a quick car and beat him. I cant see what any of you have saw in ANY of his performances this year that makes you think that he stands a chance.

Facts are that Rosberg got double the points in the same car and out qualified him something like 15-4(I think).Running Rosberg close at the end of the season as someone has put it is nothing to shout about IMO. Your all clucthing at straws - he has been found out and should leave with his tail tucked firmly between his legs.

Fact is Rosberg is not 41 and did not take a 3 year break. I don't no what job you do, but if it's tech based try taking 3 years off and then pick up where you left off.
Schumacher was extremely close to Rosberg at the end of the season and sometimes quicker. If that trend continues into next year then why write him off.

But we did also see this year that Button (world champion) struggled badly at times in a car that Hamilton (world champion) did better in. I think the car was designed with Rosberg in mind last year and when the car is Schumacher focussed he'll do much better.

Not a fan of Schummi's antics, but would not bet against him appearing on the podium more than once next year.
