Having managed to pass a telephone interview yesterday I now have a face-to face interview. In terms of preparation, I have a list of the 5 competencies which are further broken down into bullet points. I am planning on drawing up an example for each bullet point using the STAR technique. I'll also do some research on the company itself.

Have I missed anything? Thanks.

Read and re-read your own CV, make sure you know it all and what you meant by that. A good friend of mine went for an interview without looking at his cv first. He could not remember what he meant with a aprticular phrase. He did do it, just couldnt remember what he emant by it. His lack of clear answer probably cost him the job

Also be familiar with the company, the job description, what others do, where the role sites within the company

Dress as smart as you can, sit up straight and be honest, open, enthusiastic and direct. They may try and trick you- its not nice, but they can try. If they do, accept it and move on. They are only wanting to see how you react, not what the point was.

Good point about the CV. Looks like the interview is split in competency based and a business line interview.

Prepare a couple of questions to ask them !

1 about the company. Ask them what the major challenge for the business is, whats the key focus.

2. About the role, in 12 months time what would they expect to have been delivered for the appointment to be seen as a sucess

3. About them, why did they join, are the reasons they joined still valid today ?

find your own style, but make sure you have something
