Recarpeting myself. Gulp.

I have decided to recarpet the back of the Griff (under the rear window) and I have a few questions for anyone who has undertaken this operation already, if they’d be so kind.

Am I likely to be able to remove the carpet in one piece in order to use it as a template for the new carpet ? Any tips as to how to remove it ?

Also, the trim that runs along the rear, just under the window – does this hold the roof in place, ie. if I remove it, will the roof still be fixed in place ? Is it easy to remove ?

And, lastly, what is the best type of backing on the carpet and what is the best type of glue to use for the new carpet ?

I recarpeted the whole of my griff myself, its pretty simple. Yes, you can remove the shelf carpet in one piece to use as a template, it comes out quite easily, just pull it away slowly. Best to use a rubber back carpet, this will last longer and wont rot if it gets wet. I got mine from woolies i also used their adhesive, although evostick contact adhesive is pretty good as well. You will need to remove the roof completely to re carpet the rear bulkhead carpet, you may also need to replace the thin strips of velcro behind the doors as well as they are stuck over the carpet.
