BBC African footballer of the year
Discussion
Well I've voted for Gyan (slightly biased but I'll give my reasoning)
Ghana exceeded all expectations at the world cup despite missing their star player in Essien with Gyan contributing with 3 goals to help his team reach the quarter finals against Uruguay, a game they narrowly lost on penalties (and had a shot cleared off the line by a Uruguay player's hand, although Gyan did miss the resulting penalty). Had they won, they would have been the first African team to reach a semi final ever.
He's also adapted well to English football and is teaching Bolo Zenden his superior dance skills.
He's scored 4 goals in his last 3 premier league starts for a total of 6 goals in all competitions so far this season.
Yes he's a Sunderland player but he was one of the few surprises of the world cup IMO, with most other teams falling short of expectations.

He is perhaps best known for his fantastic dancing and was allegedly targeted for the most recent series of popular television show, Strictly Come Dancing. Zenden recently confirmed this rumour in a post match interview, he explained that he turned down the opportunity to star in the show in order to "[not]..embarrass" his fellow celebrities with his "superior" dancing skills.
He also scored 3 goals in the Africa cup of nations to help his team finish second, after losing 1-0 to Egypt in the final. He's scored 4 goals in his last 3 premier league starts for a total of 6 goals in all competitions so far this season.

Gyan should be ommitted because of his ridiculous celebration. You watch pure class, then just see some failed X-Factor contestant jigging around on the touchline. Pathetic.
He's better than Zenden

Good luck to whoever wins but why on earth are the BBC doing an African footballer of the year?
Is it just Africa or are the other continents allowed a go?
They've been doing it for quite some time, but I've no idea why they do it.Is it just Africa or are the other continents allowed a go?

He looks like a geography teacher at a sixth form disco.
I voted for Gyan as well (I'm also a Sunderland fan). Setting aside my bias he did have a good World Cup and seems to be fitting well into English football. His off the ball work is as impressive as his finishing so far. The dancing is cool.
Please to say that it makes a refreshing change that Sunderland has finally got a strong strikeforce. The rest of the team looks good too, Henderson is superb. I just hope we don’t suffer a mid-season slump.
