paint primer, headlights, 88 turbo
Discussion
hi all,
i need to do some paint work on my 88 turbo, i have found the place that i can get the paint in an aerosol, but don`t know what the primer colour is. The paint colour is pearlesant white, any help with this please. Also i need to source new front lights for it, but as you may all know getting these from lotus, well ouch is the word that comes to mind, so any help with aftermarket products would be welcome.
thanks

Hi Pauli,
i've just replaced all of my four headlights with genuine Cibie 6" across the board from PNM Engineering. Iam currently working with them to develop a kit. I replaced mine at the weekend at an approximate cost of £170ish for all 4.
The outers are exactly the same as the Lotus ones but the inners are Concave 6" Cibie driving lamps. The beauty of this is that all 4 lights are now concave which is the way they should have been.
You have to take your backing plate off to cut in half or grind it off insitu. Then there is a new half backing plate which is the same hole pattern as the outer light. Also I used stainless steel set M5 set screws with washers and nylok nuts for the inner lights. I was then able to salvage half of the original adjuster screws for the outer lamp. The only downside to using the set screws is that you have undo them totally to change a bulb. I have not had to change a bulb yet since my year and a half ownership but I opted to put them on the inners. You could put them on both if your existing adjuster screws are knackered.
BTW, you have to retain the black square plastic clips on the back plate.
You could buy Lotus adjuster screws if you wish but a complete screw, white and black clip costs £7+VAT. There are 12 of them, so that's nearly £100 just for screws. The stainless steel screws only cost me a tenner for the lot.
If you need more assistnace then please contact me on 0771 775 0453 or ring PNM on 0151 630 6101.
Cheers,
Dave Walters
