Discussion

I would listen to one before dropping £800 on it IMHO.
I don't want to be a pessimist but reading the blurb I don't imagine for one minute that Jarre's 'ideal' way of keeping the 'meticulous' effort put in at the studio is to play it with an MP3 player to a system where all the speakers are in the same place in a stick.
I may be totally wrong but as someone who has been involved in the setup of some very high end audio systems in and out of studios, that would defy a lot of what I know to be true.

If you're after a 'designer' range then might be worth having a listen to these.

Looks alright, but unless the stand is weighted, I'd hazard a guess that it's a bit unstable if knocked.
If you're looking to throw that sort of money at something to house the iPod on, then what about the forthcoming BeoSound 8? - http://www.bang-olufsen.com/beosound8
Don't like the colour scheme - silver and chrome is so passé, but then you have to laugh that the article in a French magazine shows an upcoming all black affair.
Either way, I'm sure it'll sound fine, but I'd put more emphasis on paying money for the design "flair" and the person behind it - Jean Michel Jarre.
That he thinks he's going to/been able to recreate lost info from a lousy (correct word, not lossy) 128KB/s proves he's lost his marbles, but then since when has synthesised music ever been High Fidelity!
I was going to say you've the distance selling rule on your side if you did buy blind, but the more I think and write about it, the more I would definitely wait until it's stocked/on demo somewhere, and in black.
What about a nice, "plain" B&W Zeppelin instead, if the B&O is out of the question?
