I'm wondering if its worth selling my 60gb and getting a slim instead.

What do you think a 60gb is worth?

320gb would be enough to put music etc on and be plenty for future and would have warranty.

£275 from Amazon with GT5.
- £40 for GT5 (i wouldn't pay the £60 for the championship edition that's included if i buy separately.)
- £??? for old PS3 sale,

What kind of cost am i looking at to trade, is it worth it. Could add the odd game/blu-ray i don't really use to up the price and lower the difference.

Is it worth doing?

How reliable are the slims and how hard is it to transfer all the saved games across and will they all work on the new console, not locked to the old console in any way?

Thanks.

Why don't you just plug in an external hard drive and keep your current ps3

I'm partly concerned that the longer i have it, the more likely it is to break.

More and more people seem to suffer as the latest games push them harder and harder, GT5 will probably not allow any let up and will be pushing hard at 1080p with all that access to disk and hd.

The 60gb's still seem to be worth some as they were made before all the cost cutting so have the extra usb ports, memory card readers and nice chrome surround by the disk not the cheap silver plasic of later full fat models.

So i'm wondering if now is a good time to upgrade?

They also have backwards compatibility which is why i've been hanging onto mine!

my PS3 is the fat one, had it a few days before the PS3 was relased and can't see the point of reaplcing it until it brakes. Will do then but as i've yet to have a problem with it which is good. but it does not get a pounding like my 360 does

I have to say i partly purchased it for backwards compatibility but i have never played any of my ps2 games since i purchased the ps3.

Also does the slim not use less power by a fairly large amount?

I'm not sure on that - but they are certainly a lot quieter!

I never played a single PS2 game in all the time that my original PS3 lived. Not sure why you'd want to...

I did use the SD card reader, but not really a massive problem losing that.

60GB were selling for stupid money (around £600) when they intitially stopped being sold, but I think that they are too much of a liability to suffer YLOD now to be worth much.

Just got to save some cash to buy a new PS3 now. The GT5 collectors edition bundle for £275 on amazon looks like a bargain.

If you still have the 3.41 firmware on they are going for good money on Ebay.

I searched and found some figures and they are near enough half the power except at idle when its about the same.

iirc the launch ones use about 200w the facelift ones, 120-140w and the slimline ones are around 60w!
If you look in the folding@home thread that stickied at the top of the forum, on one of the last pages it goes into detail
