E39 V8 starting prob

i have an anoying problem with my V8 e39.

it will start up every time never a problem. however it will then run for 5 sec then cut out.

it makes no diffrence if you try to rev it, it just rev's then cuts out.

sometimes it will go first time no problem other times it can take anywhere from 2 to 15 goes to get it to run.

anyone no of anything common it could be ?

im going to get it on a diagnostic reader as soon as posible but im not convinced that will tell me a lot.

Have you checked your fuel pressure?

Do you have an aftermarket alarm/immobiliser?

it has a standard alarm set up so no probs there. havnt checked fuel pressure but its a good idea. what are you thinking pump or regulator fault?

Cam or crank position sensor? (was the problem on my C43 some years ago)
