Ok so i have found out insurance groups dont always seem to predict the price of your insurance but i am trying to find a nice car that is fast sub 0-60 8 secs, handles well and wont kill me on insurance i am 21 have benn driving 4 3 years but only have a yrs no claims (no accidents) any ideas my insurance budget is about 1500 can streach if the car warrants.
I love cars i am willing to pay that much to drive a nice motor

I am 21 with one years no claims and have just been quoted £1300 on a VXR8 so most things should be insurable for £1500.
The only exceptions being TVR's, imprezza STI's and M3's coming in at £1800-2000
Somthing like a focus ST or old shape RS should fit the bill for performance and come in under a grand?

I'm 21 with 3 years no claims and 3 years driving. These are cars which i've looked at that wont break the bank if I buy and insure.
Seat Leon Cupra 1.8T (£850)
Audi A3 1.8T (£800)
Civic Type R EP3 (£1200)
Civic VTI (£800)
Integra Type R DC2 UK (£1000)
Astra Mk4 2L Turbo (£800)
Thats rough quotes for insurance for me. I'm in a good postcode area though.

I don't quite understand where these numbers for insurance come from. £1300 for a VXR8 with a 21 year old driver sounds like something someone dreamt up.
Of course, by all means do it if you got the quote, but let the rest of us know where you get them from. You must keep the car in a bank vault and have a mileage of 25 feet per year or something.
If you can deal with 8 or thereabouts, a Octavia mk1 vRS or Golf GTI would be fast enough and not horrific on insurance.
Let us know how the hunt goes.

Its would be as an additional car on my existing admiral multi car policy, 6k miles per year, no tracker, good postcode, both parents 50's as named drivers (one driving instructor, one company director) and used for SD&P with myself having no previous claims and 3 points (expired to everybody barring insurance companies)Of course, by all means do it if you got the quote, but let the rest of us know where you get them from. My daily car (see profile) is sub £500, so is still 2.5x the cost

I've been looking at VAG 1.8T Engined stuff lately, I've found that the Golf GTI is the most expensive.Let us know how the hunt goes.
Purely for me, the order of the 1.8T from highest to lowest
Golf GTI 1.8T
Skoda Octavia 1.8T
SEAT Leon Cupra 1.8T
Audi A3 1.8T
If you fancy a 2.0l Turbo Astra, I suggest you go to the VX forum on here and ask how they are. In fact, I was contemplating on buying one not too long ago and there should be a thread there with quite a lot of info on the Mk4 Astra's on the questions I asked.
i have no idea how insurance companys workt there quotes out for me an astra turbo coupe to insure a year is 1100 but for a golf gti which is a second slower i might add and a 1.8 is 1500 saxo vts 1600 but then a honda integra type R is 1400 i just dont get it and sabheque i will defo look at the vx220 ive not considered them yet i also will look at the skoda octavia vrs as i rather like those
