No details other than it was a dark grey car - thoughts go out to the families...

Which basically means that the police auto-assume that the owner was driving recklessly because he has a fast car. What they are hoping is that some old biddy got a scare as the car "raced past" (i.e. crusing at 70mph on 1/8th throttle) some 50 miles south of the accident so they can then chalk up another accident as dangerous driving.Tragic for all involved, obviously

It is very tragic. Wrong or right the police are bound to think that.
The early edition of the Evening Express has a report on it with photos. Apparently a brother and sister in early twenties from Abroath - he was a Royal Marine too. Just gets worse the more comes out.
Looks like a Griff but might be wrong. Very dark grey car (looks black in photo) with black & beige interior.

No they won't. They'll look at whatever evidence they can find and try and work out what happened. The press will report it as "high performane sports car" and the majority of the public will then assume the driver was doing something rash.
Sorry to hear that news though.

The public don't understand that you can drive a 'sports car' sensibly and slowly. It's the same as bikes. As soon as a crash is reported the public think 'Probably hooning round the countryside on the back wheel at 150mph' where as the bikers think 'what car pulled out in front of them?'
Hugely sad news as always and my condolences go out to those left behind.
