Why are they so dim.
I need to replace the bulbs but what will give me a decent light without having to fit new lamps and wiring.

You best bet is to forget changing the bulbs - the problem is in the wiring....

Run a 30A Live direct from the battery up to the lamps and connect via a relay (as close to the lamps as possible) Demon Tweeks do an Off Road type Spotlight wiring kit which is just the ticket for about 15 quid. dont forget to also get a good earth again using 30A wire.

You can use the existing headlight wire the goes the the back of the lamps to trigger the relays.

P.S. dont forget you need to duplicate this for the main beam if you want to beef that up aswell
