Sounds crazy, but when i was younger i almost always knew what song they were going to play on the radio 30 seconds before it began. They didnt say beforehand or anything, maybe the radiowaves have a delay and the frequency was in tune with what my brain was operating at. Only explanation i can think of given i dont buy into time travel.

I don't buy it. The experiments were often a 50-50 chance which I don't think is enough to gain statistical significance. Had they had 6 choices to choose from and were generally correct then I would be more intrigued. Also the presence of a computer nullifies the results to me, I have read experiments whereby people can influence electronic devices which is allegedly why lottery machines are still balls as they are physical and as such shouldn't be influenced by human thought.

A study conducted at Princeton university that shows that human thought can influence an electonic random event generator.

Some might consider that 'psychic'.

'De Ja Vu' anyone?

I swear there have been times here I have witnessed a sequence of events that, as they are played out, seem strangely familiar......like you've seen this before.

Bearing in mind humans use only 10% of their brain power, I think it's quite reasonable to believe that we posses 'hidden' powers. What that extra power would come in the form of is an interesting topic for discussion.

Thought I was the only one who experienced this!

Have also experienced singing a tune in my head and then switch on radio and found that song playing at exactly the point I stopped.

Do you know the phone is going to ring or who is calling before you answer it? That crops up a bit.

Three year in a row, I've had the thought, whilst driving, that I should probably check the oil in my cars engine as I haven't changed it in a long time......

Only for the oil light to come on before completing the current journey.....

Very wierd when that happens....

(and no, the car wasn't making terrible noises when i had these thoughts).

Don't believe it. So the test is in doing it again and again but it seems flawed to me.

No, humans aren't psychic. Nothing is. We can guess things, forecast based on a range of variables, we can perceive, interpret, fill in blanks, and a shed load of other pretty spectacular cognitive abilities that no other animal can. The article is just badly written interpretation of a study, which I'll put money on didn't go down well with those involved. It's like a science study, given the Daily Mail treatment. Funny that.

If you read more things like this, more often, you'd have far more interesting things to discuss, and you wouldn't be talking out of your chute while discussing them. Win win! smile

In Derren Browns book he explains this by saying that you only remember the times this happens rather than the times it doesn't. If I regularly get calls from my parents then I'll expect them to call at some point therefore when the do, I'll remember it as a "psychic" experience rather than I've forgotten the 100 times before when I was wrong.

One explanation is to do with the series of events 'storing' memories, lag if you will.

Normall it'd would go:

1) Witness event.
2) Store in STM (short term memory)
3) Check against LTM (long term memory) for similar events
4) Store in LTM

Items 2 and 3 are started in parallel. Sometimes the order gets mixed up so we get 1, 2, 4, 3 and the memory appears to be old to the brain causing a sense of unreality and displacement.

I've had it happen a few times where he sense is so strong you can almost place the time you heard it happen but you can never quite pin it down.

Seems to happen with audiroty sources to me, never visual ones.

If there's lag

I very often have a tune going in my head, only to hear it on the radio or over a shop PA, minutes to hours later. It invariably isn't anything recent either, so therefore brings the co-incidence rate right down!
