Steering problems at low speed (2003 Impreza WRX)

Can anyone help?

When moving at low speeds, the steering is very juddery and heavy.

I think i need a new battery, not sure if this any bearing on the problem?

Failing power steering pump, low fluids, or just simple under inflated tyres would be on my list.

Slipping belt feels like that and you wont always get squealing

Thanks for the replies.

Feels mechanical, so could well be the belt. I have been getting a little noise from a belt on cold start up.
