Only just spotted this thread!

I draw the odd cartoon of cars, purely for my own amusement. They're pretty ropey but at the moment I'm just drawing using a mouse on my netbook. I'm hoping to get a drawing tablet for chrimbo so hopefully I can get some proper curves, rather than looking like R2D2 has drawn it!!

Anyway, here's my latest attempt, and indeed my first attempt at drawing from scratch in Photoshop.

Does anyone else do any drawing, painting, sculpting or anything that may inspire, or have any hints or tips?!

Edited for post-wine spelling!

Oh, if I were to critique... avoid gradient with you style of Artwork. Draw in the light and shado as solid areas. (I know, this can be tedious as you build up layers)

The finish looks far less 'Paint' and more Proffesional. Your Illustration iangreat though thumbup

Clock- could you incorporate the Aston wings around the face? Maybe... smile
Thanks for the tips. I don't really understand layers at all, this one was just drawn on one. I've been told there's some good tutorials on youtube, haven't got around to looking yet though!

As for the drawing tablet, I was thinking of getting the Wacom Intuos4 small, the A6 sized one. Do you have any knowledge of them? I've read a few reviews that say that the nibs can wear quickly, but they seem to have more sensitivity levels than the Bamboo ones which I thought would be better for drawing.

Any advice greatly appreciated before I take the plunge!!

... and this in my opinion... while good quality is lost in the Gradient middle ground. Neither 'Real' or 'Art' confused

Isn't it just this original image with some filters applied??

I've got a pair of spent 330mm AP Rotors under the sofa that I have been keeping to clean up and fabricate a pair of picture frames from. They're probably a little heavy for the wall though.

I am still looking for a old 911 engine broken or damage for a project.
