Speyside route advice

Taking the mrs to Kildrummy Castle Hotel on Friday night, then planning on going from there to Inverness on Saturday.

The obvious route is the A97 to Rhynie, A941 to Craigellachie, then the A95 down to the A9 - anyone know of a better one?

Also, any tips for somewhere good for lunch along the way - nothing too fancy, just somewhere friendly that does good food.

I'd probably go south first, A944 to Corgarf, then A939 across to Grantown on Spey etc. Not much in it though.

Thanks, that's the way we ending up going.

Unfortunately we only got as far as Grantown before the clutch pedal assembly broke and we had to get the RAC to take us home!
