383 SBC BOLT SIZES FOR ENGINE STAND

does anyone know the thred sizes for the belhousing bolts?

im looking at hanging my engine on a stand while I do some work to it and not sure of the thred sizes?

also when hanging do i need to space the engine away from the stand because of the crank flange.. if so how much by as i need to know length of bolts i need too.

I know I need grade 8.

3" 3/8 UNC bolts did it for me, depends on the stand as to whether the crank will hit it but for me it bolted straight up with no spacers required.
Normally the head of the engine stand comes off so you can fix to the engine before then lifting onto the stand. That way you'll know in advance if you have an issue.

I thought so - 4 bolts doesn't seem much to hang a fully dressed engine?

Four 3" 3/8UNC Grade 8 bolts direct from Namrick held up my complete engine on a stand for quite a few years
