Conscientious Class 1 Driver seeking ADR Tanker position
Discussion
Hi
I am a 41 year old Class 1 driver with an excellent driving record. I was made redundant from my current position two days ago and have been placed on gardening leave until the end of December. The reason for redundancy is the company are outsourcing it's distribution operation. I have worked for my current employer for seven years, and previous employer for four years. I am based in Manchester.
In brief, my CV is as follows:
I can be contacted by e-mail : dico4488@yahoo.co.uk

Hello mate, can't help with the hiring but theres a few decent agencies in manchester who are always looking for Class 1/Class 2 drivers - Its only temporary work but its money while you find something else! I think one of them is based on Cheetham hill road, Theres another Oldham way.
Good luck mate, I was made redundant a few months back now and the jobs market is crap at the moment if you do anything other than Call centre work!.

Thanks all
TUPE was offered to us, however it was a completely unrealistic offer. Approximately £5000 a year less, up to 15 drops a day, whereas I currently do/did 9 per week. And to top it all, there was NO guarantee of a job if we transferred!!! Unbelievable.
On a plus note we were offered (and took) an enhanced redundancy package.

Hmm. No bonus/overtime etc involved in my current redundant position. I earn/earnt a set salary.
They did say they couldn't guarantee all of us a position, so we assumed that meant potentialy that meant none of us were guaranteed a job, so we all accepted the 'enhanced' redundancy offer.
So, I was on a set salary yet they offered us an hourly rate. They offered us less holidays per year. Also, I specificaly asked if my BUPA cover would still continue (which is very important to me at the moment as I am having major surgery in the next few days) and they replied "No".
I writing this down very quickly so it may not come across too well. I feel I/we may have been misled here.
On one slip of paper they gave us it did actualy say "Transfer on existing terms and conditions". I queried this (stupidly didn't have said piece of paper with me) and the HR managers reply was that this wasn't the case.
They are a very large buisness so I wouldn't have thought they could or would try and pull the wool over our eyes.
All three of us have verbaly accepted redundancy, however we have to see a solicitor to confirm this. Maybe I should see an employment law solicitor?
Is the info you both give 100% up to date and accurate?
Thanks VERY much. Sorry for rambling on.

We were also told that if we did accept the new position and were subsequently made redundant we would just receive statutary redundancy and would lose the 'enhanced offer'.
So, they have to at least offer one of us a genuine position, on our current salary? Yet even that one position could be made redundant within a month say?
I've moved this to a new thread - thanks guys for your input!
