I have £3.5k to spend on a daily driver. I would quite like something fun and different but it needs to be bullet proof and not too thirsty (this is flexible).
I would appreciate both newer and older suggestions.
Thanks

VW Golf GTI MK2, BMW E30 325I Sport, BMW E36 328I Sport, all quite common though!

lots of options at this money.

Although as a rule more specialised cars might well like a but more tlc.

What sort if mpg or distance per month are you needing/doing?

Also when you say bulletproof. What do you mean? No car is infallible, let alone a £3k performance or classic.

"The start motor has been playing up as of late when I bought the truck it wasn't working at all I got a mechanic to look at it and he got it working but lately its been playing up so think it might need a new one. It hasn't got an MOT or tax so will need to be trailered to its new home."

£3,000 with no tax or test and a dodgy starter, not to mention the rust in the sill. nuts

Mid to high 30's mpg would be great but life is for living so that is not majorly important. I drive about 1000 miles a month.
Maybe bulletproof isn't the right word. I just want something that isn't likely to go bang. There will be repair bills with any car but I dont fancy bills in the thousands or regular bills.

It is uber cool but I think it may be a little thirsty and need a bit of money spent on it.

I'm biased, but this should fit the bill: http://www.uksaabs.co.uk/UKS/viewtopic.php?p=61819...

230bhp, 6.5s to sixty, 30mpg, and will comfortably hold five people, their luggage, and the kitchen sink.

Corrado VR6 or G60? Both pretty rare these days, interesting and both under £3500.

Skoda Fabia VRS

I think a 328i's 28-30 Mpg might get a bit old as a daily driver.

Can you really get an LCR for under £4k?
