i have what sounds like a nut underneath/behind the rear interior light, rolls forward when i brake and so on..... pi**ing me right off, cant see a way in, it looks like a welded & sealed unit under the carpet.
anyone managed to get behind the unit???
Are you talking about the tunnel?? if so i think its a floor off job.anyone managed to get behind the unit???
to explain, its the thing that your interior light is bolted on to but i have opened the hatch by the handbrake and it feels completely sealed up.

Squeaks and rattles - I hate 'em!
Unlike light, noise doesn't travel in straight lines
Where you think the noise comes form sometimes is a red herringbone suit. Have you looked at the forward turbo heatshield yet? It can rattle.
Also, is the noise always present or only at certain times - if the latter is the engine hot or cold?
Good luck...

Have you tried removing the interior light and fishing around through that opening? If I remember correctly, you can't get into that area from the tunnel - the tunnel is bent from one piece, then the triangular frame that holds the light is welded on top of the tunnel.
tried that, no joy at all, theres nothing there

my mechanic said to drill it and im prepared to but im also interested as to where the nut/bolt came from as the triangular thingy is completely sealed, welded not bolted on.

Drill a 14mm hole in the side of the triangular piece over the tunnel and fish around with a telescopic magnet, the carpet pulls back in this area, it willnot cause any damage.
