Need to rent a garage or lock up to break a car. Problem is I'm having a nightmare trying to find one. So far I have searched using Gumtree, Council site, and web searchs of estate agents but just getting nowhere. Any ideas on how to secure that elusive garage?

I used to have the same problem, until I rented a 20' container from one of those self storage places. I now buy the odd car or caravan just for breaking and selling the bits off.

Typing garages to rent into Google reveals you a variety of answers.

If you mentioned where, or put your locale into your profile, it might get you some better local answers, or even an offer of somewhere.....scratchchin

Don't tell anyone but councils have garages for rent. I pay £24 per month for one - bloody bargain ! No-one seems to know about it from what I can tell...

I rent two council lock-up's. Cost me just under £90 per month ! Keep on meaning to clear them out and save the money as just used for storage of my Austin (not Austin Healy) Sprite, 3 motorbikes and mountians for spares.
One thing is the tennancy agreement states no working on cars in the garages. One of the other tennants was reparing his car and there was a complaint so we all (the other tennants) got a warning letter saying if caught agreement would be canceled and lock-up would need vacating within a certain, short, period.

No it's the last of the Midget type ones read:

Confusingly British Leyland decided to rename its Austin Healey Sprite as simply Austin Sprite, this was due to the demise of the Austin Healey brand. The Sprite's were really badge engineered MG Midgets which sold in greater numbers throughout the life of the two parallel models, despite the fact that model was a development of the original Austin Healey "Frogeye" Sprite.

To identify these last Sprite models the sill (rocker) panels are painted in matt black and the name badges were obviously changed. The Sprites now had Rostyle wheels and different front grilles to give them a more up-to-date look for the fashion conscious 70's.

Austin Sprites were discontinued in 1971, the MG Midget carried on in production until the MG marque disappeared in 1979
