If you enjoy driving it then why worry about what others think?

I do, every single day. When I first bought it my boss took the piss. He soon shut up after I reminded him that he drove a diesel Citroen...

Its been a learning curve for me... Little boys used to go oooooOOO with the Elise, now it's the girls who do it.

To be fair I'm getting over it, for what it is, it's a cracking car, and one the girls shouldn't be allowed to keep to themselves smile

I'm off to cadwell in mine tomorrow smile, it won't be girly pounding round the track!

I wondered about this before I bought one, and now I've bought one I don't wonder any more biggrin

I think I've had quite an a-typical reaction to my mx5 though - I've had 2 people say it looks like "the Knightrider car", 2 people say it looks like the Batmobile and only 1 hairdresser comment so far (not sure which is worse though tbh hehe)! That's just from the people who aren't petrolheads (obviously) either - all my petrolheady mates love it.

Therefore my conclusion is, yes, it's ok to drive a Mazda MX5 as a guy.

Okay well mixed response so far. With £6k budget (ideally) but could go a bit more which Mk would you go for? The later the better I guess?

I'm a 25 year old guy and had a Mk1 for 8 months or so, loved every second. Yes, there were the girls car/hairdressers cars comments but these were from boring people who drive dull euro boxes, i really didnt give a toss.

Listen to the latest episode of the Gas Station Podcast, they drive an MX5 for the first time, and really like it.

And this is just the thing.

The folk making negative comments about the MX5 and similar tend to have the sttest cars known to man.

Fook 'em.

For £6k a Mk1 Eunos (it has LSD, the UK MX5 doesn't) and an MEV Exocet kit - http://www.mevltd.co.uk/exocetprice.html

I don't think it's anything to do with that.

Some people just don't like them.

If you have to ask, then no. wink If you're secure enough in yourself that you wouldn't need to ask, then it's fine.
