Getting wax off pine internal doors
Discussion
We're in the process of renovating our new house and it has 10 pine internal doors, all of which seem to have been waxed at some point and have loads of dirty marks where hands have touched etc. We want to gloss them but sanding the doors clogs up sandpaper in no time and we can't just paint undercoat/gloss on top as it'll soon come off. Is there an easier solution to getting the wax off and the wood ready for painting?

Washing soda (Sodium carbonate) should take the wax off. It's a messy job though, so use dustsheets/old sheets to cover the floors. Apply it with an old paint brush and, give it time to penetrate the wax before washing off with clean water.
Take the doors off and do this outside.Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
