The Strand area Hotels for 11th Dec

We appear to be needing a hotel closeish to The Strand on the 11th Dec. By any chance, would anyone else be in that area with a recommend for a hotel?

The Swissotel The Howard near Temple tube is very nice.

The Strand Palace is OK.

(though dead across the street from the hotel you'll really want to be in, but there you go.)

The Thistle at Charing Cross is sponsored by Armitage Shanks and should be avoided.

A few boutiques in Covent Gdn are good too.

All depends on the budget and which end of the market - and The Strand - you are looking for.

I stayed hear a while back and really liked it, however when I looked recently the cheapest price was nearly 3 times what I paid which makes it less appealing.

I've stayed there for work a few times - £116 is a very good price as even with our corporate discount we pay £110...

The Thistle Marble Arch is a good hotel but a fair tramp from The Strand or involves a tube journey with 2+ changes or circa £10 black cab fare.

I am assuming that by the time we finish the tube will have finished! Is the Radisson closer and /or similar priced?

It could well be a nice stroll on a summers evening, but in December ? And back after a belly full of ?

It may be cheaper than a nearer hotel but the transport between hotel and venue and return needs to be factored in, is all I am trying to suggest.

I love walking in London, and regularly walk Charing X or Victoria to Lords and back when going to a match, and all over the West End for meetings and site visits but with the ladies in their finest it may be a touch too far

Radisson is closer in distance but not price....

There is a nice little independant hotel called the Seven Dials, just north of Covent Garden that a few people I know have used, and said it's ok, and not too pricey..
