Two lane blacktop.
Discussion
If you know about period drag racing there are some really famous cars and drivers in that fil, also that Chevy they drive is/was the real deal, that thing ran low 10's/ hight 9's in the 70's, that was some feat back then.
Also, you know that car was made over and is the car used in American Graffiti right?

No, i did not know most of that ! Also, you know that car was made over and is the car used in American Graffiti right?
The Chevy being used in graffiti is a good anorak fact if true.
That car is a legend, watch two lane when they are at the drags, I am sure it runs 10's in the film on the strip.
I love it as to me it is a snapshot of the lives of a few folk whos lives cross, a look at a moment in American history and the back view is awesome.
At the beginning of the film there is a streetrace that is run with a very famous back then (notorious even) strret racing gang that was sponsored through the back door by Chrysler! racing and winning back then meant good sales and the car manufacturers did what was needed!
It was a big, and I mean Big black dude who ran a Daytona that did the race, Chrysler even had an advert printed showing him and gang chillin' with the car ( his name was Big Willy, google it)
Sorry for the anorak stuff but the film is special for me and too many folk dismiss it as they don't understand what they are seeing.

The chevy was used for Graffiti.
There were three cars built for 2LB. After filming one was sold off, the other two were stuck in the film lot and forgotten about. When Lucas started Graffiti he took the two cars, using one as a camera car, the other crashed for the ending of the film. The car you see being burnt at the end was yet another car from a scrapyard, they car was actually a hardtop so had a bit of 2x4 strapped in to place to imitate the b-pillar.
After AG both cars ended up getting sold off.
One reason you dont see the engine of the 55 in AG is that the film was set in '62, which is before that engine was manufactured.

Just a brilliant film, in my alltime top 5.
I dislike those "Me too!" postings that use up bandwidth without adding anything meaningful to the discussion, but in this case...
...Yup, Me too!
I first saw this on telly in around the mid '70s, and was completely captivated. There seemed to be a whole slew of similar(ish) movies around at the time, like Electra Glide in Blue, Zabriskie Point, Vanishing Point, Rain People, etc. Kind of opened my eyes to non-mainstream movies.
