When is an accident not an accident?
Discussion
Quick insurance claim test for you:
Damaged the solid part of the wedge roof when it blew off and bounced down the road (I know, what was I doing with the roof on in the first place?). Insurance company don't want to know as it wasn't 'accident related'. Admittedly, one of the struts hadn't been pushed back far enough, but as I didn't do it intentionally, I'd argue that it was an accident. Wondered if anybody had had a similar 'mishap'?

With the average excess something like £250 and the fact that, even though your NCD is "protected" they'll still up your premium next year if you've made a claim, I'd just put it down to experience and either repair the panel or buy a new one and not make a claim on it. In fact, if you'd asked before you contacted the insurance company then my advice would have been to not even tell them.

My roof tabs came out of their rear slots whilst 'making progress' on a dual carriageway last week.
Fortunately I managed to grab the roof and slowly pull over to the side of the road. When I got home I tightened the bolts that go through to the boot and it has not happened since.
Other than tightening those bolts there doesn't seem to be any adjustment ... unless anyone knows differently...
