Cam chain tension
Discussion
It is checked by removing the oil filler from the front of the cam case (3 cap heads)
Using a 12" screwdriver you should be just able to lever the tensioner arm off the adjuster.
The adjustment is via the large lock wired bolt on the right hand side of the engine (looking from the front) just above the oil filler.
The bolt is drilled to carry a steel pin.
Remove the bolt and pull the pin out to adjust by adding or removing shims.
Check the state of the copper washer (as a precaution I always heat them to cherry red in a flame and allow to cool to soften them up)
And don't forget to lock wire it again.

I think I am imposing by the list of trivial questions.
No you're not! This is what the forum is for.The wiki is a good idea; valve clearances, diff bushes, oil pressure spring replacement etc are all things that get asked fairly regularly. I guess that as the cars have got older there are now more people looking after them at home.
