Anyone have an account with Manheim who can look for me to see what stock they have?
I am looking for an E Class estate 2004 with up to 75 - 80 000 on the clock, ideally with leather, command and parking sensors. Colour less important.
Cheers

Many thanks Bassanclan.
As I suspected, the last one is mor the car I am after and have seen it on the auction preview, but is over budget. The other for me is too high miles and a 270. I would like a 320 or 280 CDI.
Thanks for your time though in looking and posting.

Vindis sale at BCA Bedford tomorrow.

You do need to be careful with pre-2006 E-Class at auction though - a lot are there because they have something wrong with them - often a load of anti-freeze in the autogearbox!

BCA Grade their cars 1 to 5 for condition (1 being retail, 5 being poor). Grade 3 is quite good for a 04 px car.

Vindis starts 9.30am, that car is lot 58 so should be through about 10.10am.

Check it carefully. Unfortunately what you can't check is if it has the very common on that year glycol in the ATF fluid issue developing - they all do at some point. Check carefuly for any errors on the SBC system, strange noises from around the injectors and any warning lights.

It sold for £9600. Did you buy it? Is it OK?

Many cars have the gearbox cooler built into the rad.

If there is a leak - mixed fluids.

If its a known problem simply change to an Aux oil cooler rad mounted against the water rad - cheap and easy.

If its already happened then it usually means a recon box is req'd.

As has been posted, in the rad. Lots of cars have a similar arrangement but the W211 between 2002 and 2005 has particular problems. Nearly all of them up to including early 2005 cars are very prone to it and it seems almost a case of "when" rather than "if". Owners take them to a Merc garage and they quote £6000 for a fix so they trade them right in.....this is why you have to be careful with px ones at auction.

Note that if you research the issue Mercedes clain to have fixed the issue in late 2003. This is utter rubbish. 2004 cars seem if anything more prone to it.

The glycol (anti-freeze) starts by destroying the torque convertor then the whole gearbox.

No, I did not buy in the end. Nearly £1000 over cap clean. I was a very clean car though but I an sure the auctioneer said 4 owners. I took it to £9200 but that is my top line. My cash waits another day.

It was the leather, COMAND and what looks like heated seats in the photos etc. which did it. If you want those toys you will probably have to pay over book (and it wasn't over book if you take Glass's).

Basic Advantgarde's with half leather and CD player tend to go slightly under.
