Insurance for run-around gone up 30%!!
Discussion
The only thing that has changed is that both me and the car are a year older. Last year's renewal was £250. It's now £350.
Any recommendations? Morethan, Pru, Directline, Privilege and Churchill can go anally rape their mums because they're all at least 40% more than last year's quote.

Rusty Mk3 Golf with a leaky roof. Same for the last 3 years.
Thanks to both replies.

Try the comparison websites.
And wait for all the sales calls. Don't give a wrong tel contact number whatever you do
I had exactly the same problem and after trying all of the comparison sites ended up with Direct line at more or less what I paid last year. Worth a shot.

Must admit I was bricking it this year too.. in a state of panic I gave the usual (an unusual) suspects a call... some of the justifications as to why they were quoting 50 to 100% more than my previous insurance company did last year were quite funny.
Thankfully when my renewal finally did come through from Flux it was only £10 or £20 more... phew!

get a quote from aviva, they are giving out 2 months free insurance at the moment. Insurance on both my cars is cheaper by quite a bit this year just by swapping to them.
+1 to this, I've just done the same, much to Direct Crime's dismay. I'm not expecting miracles next year come renewal time given the 2 months free (17% off basically) is an introductory thing. Flux are good if it's something out of the ordinary or slightly modified. Not sure holes in the roof counts as modification though ;-)But yes, the general rule is that renewals are not a good idea; shop around every year, the low price is to lure you in, they make the money when a) you don't make a claim in the first year and b) you pay a hefty premium to renew next year.
