I've found references to Boxee by searching PH but people seem to have much more complex requirements than me. Hopefully my needs are simple...

I have a long lounge-dining room. The lounge end is for relaxing and watching TV. It currently has a (don't laugh) 1990 Sony CRT and a Freeview box. The dining room end is where I work, with a PC and broadband wireless router. No cable, no satellite, no games consoles, no Macs.

I'm thinking of replacing the TV with a 32" screen (I like the look of the Samsung LED ones best). This will probably come with Freeview built in so everything will be digital. However it would be nice to have the bonus of iPlayer. (I don't want to go back up to the 'work' end and sit at my desk just to watch telly)

Samsungs have Media 2.0 and Internet @ TV but from what I read these are flaky at best. Don't want YouTube, don't want Facebook, don't want iTunes, don't want 3-D, not very bothered by HD, just want iPlayer.

Sooo - we have (1) New 32" screen (2) Boxee and (3) wireless internet beamed from the other end of the room. Chances of it working are how many percent?

OK, lets try another option. Samsung LED screen with 'Internet @ TV' and matching dongle to receive the internet signal?

But then if iPlayer changes and Samsung don't change with it, I'm stuffed.

Sounds like there are no walls between the router and the tv, so wireless will be fine. As long as the iplayer app on the samsung is properly arranged with the bbc, then it shouldnt get broken by any updates.

Can you get a 32" with Internet@TV? Doesnt look that way from a minutes googling.. Sounds like an excuse to get a Sony PS3 smile

(no idea about a boxee, googling brings up mixed messages, but the review someone posted recently suggested iplayer didnt work on it?)

That's the problem - for everyone who says it works, someone else says it doesn't.

Option 1 is the 6530 which has internet capability:

- then you have to buy and plug in one of these:

Option 2 is the lower model 5800:

And plug the Boxee in.

Whilst it would be a nuisance having a second box to accommodate, it might mean my options are more open the future.

Think I'm favouring the second route.
