Yep! Suppose so.

Did a quick search and you can get them for a bargain £155.

They take a while to heat up - the first slices don't always come out great but after that they are spot on. Certainly beats having a nasty plastic piece of junk on the worktop.

Had our 4 slice now for about three years after going through hoards of others every 18 months or so.

You can also buy individual heater elements for them or like me change the elements around to give the two most used (two slice) ones a rest bite.

Expensive yes, simple yes, worth it YES IMHO, would I buy another yes, when? buggered if I know. smile

HTH.

They work and they keep on working, and if an element goes you can just replace it. Ours is about 15 years old and I expect it will still work in another 15 years and probably another 15 after that.

Do you own one?

And it would be King's if it wasn't, in fact, Emperor's

They are excellent toasters but a little expensive really. Mine was a Christmas present, it's about 8 years old and has never missed a beat. It's used almost every day and makes the most evenly crispy toast of any toaster I have used.

That's exactly what they're designed and priced for.

Look great and but what it really does is just scorches bread. £200 is steep though, we (my wife) got one and i think on reflection i'd have preferred £175 more in my pocket and a cheap stainless steel one instead.

They're designed to make toast!

I used to sell them years ago and they did mostly go on wedding lists, but I still reckon they make the best toast.

We've got one (kids bought it as an anniversary present) but, to be honest, I reckon the Tefal long slot thick & thin toaster (with an "element" like the bar of an electric fire) we had before worked better and could cope with a wider and longer pieces of bread.

never tried one of those, but probably never will unless my Dualit dies.

Bought a 4 slice Dualit about 12 years ago. Finally had to replace one element this year which cost me £8 on ebay. Makes perfect toast every time and is pretty much indestructible - it's also so utterly simple that I've stripped it apart for deep cleaning and made it shiny inside once again. Having seen the inside I would advise against the sandwich toasting but the bags you can get are cheap and look like a great idea.
I did have to buy a very small AF spanner to work on it properly though - something like 1/4 inch.

ETA: You should be able to pay nearer £150 if you shop around and watch for offers but check the model number matches exactly the one you want - I think there may be some old stock around.

My parents' Dualit is over 20 years old. It's had a few new elements over the years, but is still going strong, making my dad's toast every morning, seven days a week.

Mainly because they are still 100% UK made, built with some old fashioned care and attention to detail.

Simple and virtually bullet-proof. No complicated pop up /spring loaded mechanisms and easily home-servicable.

It seems they go on many wedding lists. Pity most marriages will not outlast the average working life of the humble toaster hehe
