Perhaps a strange question for a site of motoring enthusiasts, but i was wondering if its legal to fit one of these to your car - i presume theyll start selling them soon - the chinese sell anything and everything.

Ive seen several similar stories of this now being done on public roads - presumably with a back up driver.

I feel happy enough with the technology now that id be interested on getting one on my car for those long boring motorway trips.

But are they legal?

What is more interesting is who will be sued when the first accident occurs, the passenger, insurance company, or the manufacturer.

"the real reason that the trip took so long is that the vehicles had to be charged eight hours for every two hours of driving."

You gotta love electric cars!

As for the rest of it - same rules apply on the road as any other form of cruise control.

You can expect to get nicked if you park on a hill, fail to apply the handbrake properly and your car runs away on its own. Who's "in charge" of a vehicle is what counts, whether or not you're actually in it at the time. Same for drink driving.
