Hi all

I'm looking for a nice sparkling wine for around a tenner per bottle. Has anyone tried a nice one lately?

Thanks!

Hardys sparkling Chardonnay Pinor Noir is a nice fizz tipple. It's also frequently on half-price offer in Tesco (and probably the other big supermarkets too) at around £5.99.

Eminently acceptable as everyday fizz when the "proper" stuff would be OTT.

its all we drank at our wedding (bought in Calais for £4.30 bottle!)- superb stuff- lovely flavours, and a great balance of dry and sweet- very drinkable but not dull by any means.

This http://www.tesco.com/wine/product/details/default.... is our favourite. Lovely stuff. Better than quite a few champagnes at higher prices.
Always a few bottles in the rack. Used to get it in Calais at Majestic Wine but they don't seem to stock it now.

Thanks for all the replies guys! Plenty to try out over the next few weeks. I intend to order a good few bottles for an upcoming function so hopefully it goes down well.

I like this.

I also think the bottle wouldn't look out of place at a 'smart' function.

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Vintage Cava is good, usually around £6.99 a bottle but often discounted to lower than that. The rose version often turns up as a best buy but I prefer the ordinary one.

I concur for the white but don't bother with the rose. I tried both when on offer in Waitrose a while back,

regards,
Jet

Strangely enough, corkage at the venue is $8 for champagne but only $4 for sparkling wine. Quite a difference when considering 40 bottles.

I had some surprisingly good tesco finest prosecco at the weekend. Think it was a tenner (had a silver label!).

Unsurprisingly, that offer also on in Waitrose. Good to hear it's ok, I was thinking about getting some.

Tattinger is also half price in Tesco, £16.99 a bottle.

Seriously. I did a blind tasting a while back, and that's what everyone picked as the nicest.
