VMAX in A Cerbera

I broke my VMAX virginity on Saturday & thoroughly enjoyed it to
Excuses first... It was cold, foggy & subsequently the surface stayed greasy. As I exited the hair pin in Third gear, I was having to feather it as the 90 mph drift was starting to hurt my chest & my passenger's pants.
Due to the cold, he refused to get out , so I had 80KG of ballast.
Anyhoos, in to Fourth, 7k revs & 140 mph, in to Fifth & I was in what sounded like the world's loudest hair dryer as the old girl struggled on to 168 mph. This matched my GPS & speedo. There was another speed trap to the right and I was getting an extra 6 mph on that one, but I'd seriously question it's validity.
Can't wait for the next one & hopefully, I can join the 170 club.
On the drag races, myself & an M3 seemed to be the only cars that were having to take off sideways. I drive it every day, so I'm not too bad at launching it, but I could see the photographer moving further & further away from the side of the track, and I was worried about getting A tank slapper & taking out an expensive piece of machinery
I reckon I've got the beating of the standard GT3's & the Audi R8, but A couple of things beat me convincingly... The tuned Nissan GTR, 715 bhp RS6 to name A couple. I gave Mark's SL600 a good run off the line, but I'm sure that's tuned to over 700 bhp, so reaching for Third gear he came past me. He also let me have the bend, and at 140 on the straight, he hurtled past & on to 200 mph
Ho hum, A great day, and if you haven't already been on it, I'd highly recommend giving it A try :

Why those Two pence plastic bonnet rods, can't hold the uplift of A bonnet at 120 mph whilst hitting bumps, is beyond me.
Perhaps TVR could have spent an extra £1 & put some metal one's on like I've been forced to
It's not the nicest looking Cerb at the best of times with it's ripped seats & rain drenched interior, but I think the Silver tape all over it was the last nail in the coffin, in terms of getting any nice pictures from the professional photographers
Lovely Porsche by the way. That was the one with the GT3 motif in the side of the rear spoiler ?

My passenger enjoyed his day out, and I kept prompting him to ask someone for A passenger ride, so I could lighten the load A little bit, but he was having none of it

you owe me some tape so you better be able to go back next time.
Not the only one with no traction, I think I had the record for the most amount of gears with wheel spin and that included 5th.
Good to have a quick run with you when I was going home, I think you probually noticed I only took it up to about 180 on that run - I did not have enough petrol to go any further - the most I recorded was 188 on the GPS but had to back off every time before the beams as I did not have enough brakes, talent or sleep to keep it going.

That tape was brilliant thanks mate. As I said, it seemed nothing to you, but for me it was the difference between having A go at posting A speed or not. And whilst I enjoyed seeing the other cars, I'd have been gutted if I couldn't have posted a decentish speed.As it turned out, I didn't see many cars do more runs than my old shed. Dom will be rubbing his hands at the thought of another rebuild
I think you let me get off the line, and then came hurtling past me. The passenger noted that you came past one handed, whilst I Was clinging on for dear life.
Down the straight, you just vanished & my concentration reverted back to keeping the car straight & watching the rev counter for the optimum change
Looking forward to see you having A crack at the big 2

Where did you get the metal bonnet rod ends from as mine are worn quite badly and need replacing, hopefully with something better than plastic.

My Dad turned them. I had them on the 4.5 & posted some to 'farmyardpants' off of here
Be interesting to see how he got on with them.They were basically longer than the plastic ones & went 'over' the metal bar/rod. They had A couple of allen bolts on them with A sharp tip. The bolts bit in to the rod as you tightened them. Basically, you just moved them up & down the rod to where you wanted them & tightened them up. It's impossible to see the bonnet moving anywhere with them & the 4.5 bonnet felt like A 'Normal' car
The lads at Power asked where they come from & Dom will stick them on his site.
The old man's back from his holiday next month, so I'll get him to make A few sets

Yeh, I noticed that I stayed in the left lane as I felt the breaking was better. As the fuel got burnt off, I was getting 1 mph quicker every couple of runs, same as at Fighting Torque. We posted A couple of 166's then got ushered to the right, to let A couple of cars have A race. We went down the right lane & recorded A 172. My passenger had looked at the GPS A few metres before we crossed the line & he was surprised that it had gone up so much. The right hand lane has a small drop that was affecting my bonnet/gaffer tape, so we went back to the left lane & did A 167, followed by A couple of 168's. Another Three runs, A drier day or dumping the passenger will get me comfortably past 170 I reckon, so I've got A good reason to go back now

The 599's sound superb.
Strangely, the one that most impressed me was the 715 bhp RS6. Be interesting to see if anything out dragged that , as it was awesome off the line.
I can imagine him doing sub 3.5 second 0-60's off the lights, with 4 passengers & A Labrador hurtling around in the back, whilst it's snowing
