One of my Xenon's has blown on the 156 GTA and I'm struggling to get a replacement. Alfa want £880 for a new one, I can get a whole unit second hand from Autolusso for £250, but they have none and find them hard to get. Jamie Porter in Royston don't supply them, Bosch dealers can't supply the ballast unit as it's dealer only.

I took the blown unit out and put it in the airing cupboard for a day to dry out which got rid of the condensation, but it still doesn't work.

Any options other than wait for Autolusso to get one in? I don't want to convert to normal units...

Sounds about right for a new headlight unit.

One of my friends 147GTA suffered a corroded cicuit board and they quoted £850 for a replacement unit (about 2 years ago). Luckily Alfa went halves with a good will gesture but still a heck of a lot of money.

May be worth ringing AlfaWorkshop.co.uk to see if they can help or possibly Alternative Autos. Both are very helpful.

Jimbo.

Have you tried ringing the Alfa Workshop (as opposed to their website)? IIRC they supplied us with a new unit (the circuit gubbins) for a LOT less than Alfa themselves wanted...

Alfa Workshop can't supply used units - didn't ask about new.

Finally got it fixed this weekend. Picked up new ballast unit of eBay for a Merc (£149) but is the same fitting.

Loosk like the alignment of that headlight might be out now - can this be re-aligned at a dealer?

Could be a silly question, but would it have not been easier to buy & fit 2 non-xenon units (from a scrappy), and flog the one remaining working one, for a profit?

It's not just a straight swap, all the wiring loom for the lights, fuses, etc., need to be swapped out. Besides, it would ruin the look of the GTA with the normal lights IMO.
