Hi guys,
My fiesta is my pride and joy. I know its not fast or particularly cool, but its mine and much better than my old '93 corsa!

But today it went into limp mode. It wouldn't go faster than 5mph and had EAC fail on the dash. A quick google shows this is electronic accelerator control. The fix was simply leaving the car for 20 minutes and then starting it again and it was fine. But should i be worried about it happening again? I was running pretty low on fuel, but in theory still had 10 litres in the tank.

What do the brains on PH think?

Cheers

I had this on startup once on my Fiesta ST (not an uncommon occurence). Keying-off and on again cured it and it never happened again.

For those that had a recurrence of this, a new throttlebody was the cure.

Whats the rough cost of something like that? When it happened i had the £££££ signs going across my mind with a new ECU needed!!

Mrs had the same problem on her last one - it came and went from time to time and in the end when booked into dealership they couldnt find anything.

It was during bad weather or snow it happened (3 or 4 times) so I was never sure whether something somewhere was a bit too exposed to be honest.

I've been on the wrong end of this fault, tried a new throttle body... Didn't work in the end it was a new ecu £900 worth, that's what I get for buying a ford!!!

I had this on 1.4 lx 2003 fiesta the problem with diagnosing this fault code is that often it's not what you first think.

There is a ford technical note about this and they produced a revised throttle body and wiring harness from the loom to the throttle body (£170).

The first thing to try is throttle pedal but most likely won't cure it (£80).

After doing all these cheaper steps we sent the ecu off for test repair and that finally cured it (£285).

Pm me if you need more details.
