Due to the latest project taking up the garage space, the track car has been relegated to the driveway.

I bought a cheapy cover for the track car, but to be honest I may as well have covered it in andrex for the good it does when it rains rolleyes

So what Im after is a nice cheap alternative (to a car cover) that will keep the elements and muck off, without spending a fortune.

Is there such a thing on the market?

We had the same problem till we move next year house with a double garage. We bought a few so called car covers some cheap others not!!!.
They all get ripped or shrink, the one below is that canvas type cover which folds over the car.

In the end we bought this its not cheap new around £650 + We paid less than £200 for our one. You can find them on Ebay for a few £££. I had to travel for this one, when I won it on Ebay 8 hrs each way.

One of those would do the trick, but like ya say its still a few quid even if you can find one second hand...

Has anyone used an old army tent or something (just thinking of the drive in access though???

I was wondering why there isnt a cheap equivalent of the gazebo type thing on the market, thats half as tall and a little longer to be used as a cheapy car tent!?

I used an old gazebo to cover the 944 last summer whilst I was working out in the blazing sunshine, left it up over a weekend whilst I was away and it decided to take itself on a little trip down the road after having disintegrated in a breeze... so I cant even hack that one about to see if it'd work.

Is there really nothing on the market - perhaps I've found the niche scratchchin

How about buying an old frame tent? A mate had one years ago that he could fit his Ford Sierra inside and still have space to spare. You'd need to dix some anchor points though if you're on hardstanding.

Yep, good plan - where to find something big enough though???

I guess you can adjust the height with these things too - would be good not to look like a local scout group has pitched up in the drive wink

What about something like this:

http://www.sportandleisureuk.com/catalog/tents-and...

Only potential snag I can see is if the room section is integral and I'd need to cut it out - and I'd have to erect it around the car so no driving in or out as such.

Its amazing how expensive the proper army tents seem to be for something of reasonable size yikes

I do not care about the scouts!!!!
The main thing the car stays dry, has air pockets at the side as well of the cover.

You can even still work on the car as well bonus.

I'd keep an eye on e-bay. Modern tents are so lightweight there must be a few people around trying to get rid of the old heavy single layer jobbies.

How big is your car?

I have a 6+ berth tent for sale which is pretty damn big. Maybe we could deal if suitable?
