Alternator

Can anyone confirm what type of alternator I need for my 350i. I ve been on the Rimmers Bros website and the one for the rover v8 engine is GNU2262E to suit SD1/TR8. Is this the right one? Would I still be able to get one from a range rover dealer so I can exchange it over the counter?

Hi, they are easily available, recently exchanged mine at the local motor factors for just under £50 inc vat, two year warranty included. Take it in as there are different outputs and fittings, don't forget to haggle it works for me.

Why do you need a new one? There's not a lot to go wrong, usually it's just the brushes that wear out - about £12 to renew, last time I did mine.
If it's grumbling because the bearings are shot, again it's not mega-bucks to fix.
