So fancy the black and gold version of the above, which out of the two have more appeal? Reason why I ask is why are subs more sort after ?

Submariners are more sought after (normally!) because they're the classic divers' design and iconic in the watch world.
I would buy what I want, out of the two neither is going to have substantially different resale. If buying new, expect the two-tones to take a bit of a pasting value-wise.

Without sounding daft why do the two tone get hit for resale values?

Not a daft question!
Basically for the reason that the Stainless models are preferred.
That does have a benefit though, you're far more likely to get a discount on a TT than a Stainless Sports Rolex. smile
