PistonHeads Track Events 2011

PistonHeads and BookaTrack join forces to create the first full calendar of PH track events

PistonHeads has been arranging the odd track day for a few years now, but we've decided that it was about time we did things properly, and so in 2011 we will launch our first ever multi-venue calendar of track events.

To ensure we get the right venues, offer competitive pricing and look after PHers to the highest possible standard, we will be working with track day experts BookaTrack. The guys at BaT have been in business for 10 years, and know the track day market inside out. Not only do they know the very best venues, they also have an easy-to-use booking system and ensure that all aspects of making the perfect track day are covered.

PistonHeads will launch a full track day calendar and associated membership scheme for 2011. The six-event schedule includes open pit lane access to some of the best circuits in the UK, including Silverstone GP, Brands GP and Donington, with other venues to be confirmed.

We'll launch in March and will run through to October and, in addition to being able to book single events, we will also launch a limited number of exclusive membership packages. These packages will be made available very soon and guarantee the member priority access to each event as well as a number of other benefits - more details to follow.

In addition to the track days, PH members will benefit from the availability of the BaT fleet of Caterham Superlights - ideal for anyone not wishing (or not able!) to track their own toys. These will be available to hire at all PH track events on a first come, first served basis.

We’ll bring you details of the full calendar as soon as we can as we are aiming to launch in time for the Autosport/PistonHeads Show at the NEC in January. In the meantime, if you would like to contact the BaT team regarding PH track days you can e-mail them here: info@bookatrack.com

We look forward to telling you more soon, and seeing you on track next year.

Good effort chaps, will keep an eye out now I've nearly got the 172 ready for a trackday.

Is there any chance that there might be a half-day option at some of these trackdays for those who might not want/be able to do a full day?

Looking forward to this, not sure if Bookatrack use Castle Coombe, but that would get my vote for one of the lower budget events. Great track!

How much does the Caterham cost to rent? I'm thinking it would be fun to scare my OH around Silverstone...

Sorry - no plans for any airfield days next year - unless you consider Silverstone and Castle Combe to be disused airfields :-)

The Superlights are £575 for the day, £100 for the 2nd driver. That can then be split between the 2 drivers. Add the track day fee for an all inclusive price (fuel, tyres, instruction and full insurance subject to £1500 excess).

There won't be a formal/exclusive PH track day at Knockhill next year, but BaT are there on Tuesday 30th August and i'm sure if there's enough PHers book up then PH would look to have have a presence there.

The main question is - will it mean more dates over the year and more attractive pricing ? I assume the 1st is yes, the 2nd not necessarily wink

Good to see PH picking BaT to team up with, IMO. smile

Been on trackdays with numerous operators in recent years and Jonny's team is always well organised, has thorough safety briefings, and is firm with anyone who's either out of control or blocks overtaking, which makes sure everyone has fun despite wide range of machinery & skills.

The Prodrive test track in Fen end, Kenilworth could be a laugh for the PH lads and lasses. Is rather bumpy though. I know it's available for rental.

Sorry to disappoint gents, but Brands GP is never going to cheap and never going to be noisy. Limited to <20 track days there per year and all of them 101dB. I think Goldtrack and RMA are both ~£500 for open pit lane next year and looking at the costs and risks involved I can't see how BaT/PH could do it any cheaper than that without going sessioned unfortunately.

Bother, noise limit rules the GP Circuit out for me.

What came first the track or the houses backing onto the track?

Would have been good if PH could have got one of the early sessions on the super new layout at Snetterton next Spring. We should be first experiencing these things!
