G-Power Hurricane RR: The 230mph BMW M6

German tuner creates world's fastest four-seat coupe

If there's one thing you're unlikely to think after driving a BMW M6, it's that it needs more power. But that's clearly exactly what the folks at G-Power in Autenzell, Germany felt.

As result, the German tuner has created this, the G-Power Hurricane M6 RR, which it describes as the 'world's fastest four-seat coupe'.

In order to justify that claim, G-Power was wound the M6's V10 up to 789bhp and 590lb ft of torque, the extra 289bhp and 207lb ft coming courtesy of twin (yes, twin) superchargers.

The result is 0-62mph in 4.35secs, 0-124mph in 9.3secs, 0-186mph in 24.9secs, and a truly epic top speed of more than 231mph.

Such figures aren't optimistically imaginary, either - G-power has experience with absurdly powerful BMWs as it already converts M5s into true super-saloons by bolting on two ASA T1-316 radial superchargers to the 5.0-litre V10.

Of course, if you've got a car capable of 230mph, you want to make sure the aerodynamics are sound. To this end, the Hurricane RR gets a carbon-fibre front skirt and a rear spoiler for greater aerodynamic downforce at high speeds.

We're not sure about the looks, but we'd certainly be grateful for the extra aerodynamic assistance...

Inevitably, there's bigger rubber too, with the 20-inch forged alloys fitted with 255/35 ZR 20 tyres at the front and 285/30 ZR 20 rubber at the rear. Meatier brakes and adjustable coil over suspension complete the dynamic picture.

Should you fancy a 230mph twin-supercharged BMW coupe, G-Power will get you a complete vehicle for the magnificently precise price of 252,100.84 euros (£215k). And if that's a bit steep for you, the company will convert your own M6 for just 56,000 euros plus fitting (£48k). You'll only get 740bhp for that, though - and that would just be rubbish...

Is there any decent pictures of this? Those 3 in the article are all a bit arty farty and don't really succeed in truly photographing the car.

Why supercharge? Turbo is much more effective and elegant solution. Lazy bds laugh

Good to read of one of the 'tuning houses' that actually make some significant power increases and not just cosmetic overhauls.
The M5 G Power is pretty impressive, and quite the ultimate sleeper.

There are some more but they keep corrupting. I'll see if I can get them to work...

It's a heavy car so traction off the line would be hard to control with 789hp. 0-62 would never get much quicker without drag radials. The fact it does 0-124 in 9.3 seconds is much more telling of its true performance. Thats the same time as a Maclaren F1, even though the Maclaren is 1.5 seconds quicker to 60!

I dunno, I think a supercharger is the more elegant solution for road use. PEAK hp and the most amount of power aren't such concerns for road cars, power delivery, feel and lack of lag would all sway me to a supercharger.

Race car = turbo. Speed and power are the only things that matter.

This road test is probably the best demonstration I have ever seen of sheere power, this car eats RS 911s!
