Has anyone any experience in changing the suspension bushes on an X type diesel estate?

That`ll be the rear link arms shot( lots of noise, rattles ), £58 each from Jaguar plus the bolts , which will be seized, so soak first

4 bolts and that`s it. They will be tight, possibly seized.
Sounds like you havn`t even looked at it yet. Easy enough with the weight off.

we looked at it briefly a week or two back, saw the bushes were pretty 'tired'. I served my time years ago and pretty well know my way around a toolbox having restored a 911 and rebuilt a kit car, my youngest lad (19) is in the 4th year of his motor mechanic apprenticeship so we'll be able to sort it out I'm sure. Thanks for your advice and input.

I did this job on my saloon X Type a few months back. Having hear horror stories of having to cut the old ones off I set about squirting WD40 type oil onto the bolts and threads on a daily basis leading up to the job itself, for about a week previously. Although I was still hanging off the spanner with all my considerable weight and not managing to move the bolts, they did come out with no problem at all using a windy socket.

The whole job took 15 minutes in total and I was very pleasantly surprised. I am also much happier now with my lack of tyre wear to the inner edge on both my rear tyres.
