Carbon fibre seat backs and Tamora diffuser
Discussion
Afternoon all,
I've decided my car needs a bit more fibre in its diet. I've got some interesting bits on the way from a carbon specialist down south. I'm in the process of getting some seat backs for Tamora/T350 made and possibly the rear diffuser for Tamora.
The cost based on 10 sets being ordered (me being 1) is around £400-450 per pair. These are proper molds, pre-preg carbon or kevlar, lacquered and ready for stroking.
I will get some pics and info up soon, anyone interested? the more we get the better the price and the price above may reduce slightly if I ask nicely

Seat backs if they look good and are not a PITA to change. I always thought the seat backs on the Tam style seats were fixed to the frame, removing the 4 bolts on the back does not release the seat back?

Diffuser will get more info on next week.
Interesting point Shep, I haven't looked closely at the seat backs (mine need a tidy due to scratches) but I'll get info on them anyway.
I'd be interested, was thinking about getting them sent off for powder coating next year anyway. That was going to cost ~£400 instelf but maybe carbon would look better? Would like to see sample pics first though.Interesting point Shep, I haven't looked closely at the seat backs (mine need a tidy due to scratches) but I'll get info on them anyway.
Ok well I should get some shots of first versions tonight, they can be offered in kevlar or carbon.
Carbon based on 10+ orders will be around £300-350 per pair, kevlar would be considerably more expensive in their words. The first versions use a large weave of carbon so may not look great but I'll get some examples of other work and of the bits I'm having on my car to show quality.
We'll have to take the plunge on that basis I'm afraid unless I personally cover the mold costs.

all the things I am looking at doing are replacement parts to improve/lighten the car...cosmetic carbon is pointless.
I won't know until I take a seat back off and weigh it, then weigh one of the new ones. Bear with me and I'll let you know. the saving will be minor though possibly 0.5kg per side?

I could be very interested in the seat backs, contingent on:
1) The seat backs being easy to remove (I haven't had chance to try)
2) seeing a picture of the finished article
Thanks for your efforts on this - keep me in the loop.

I'm going to see them next Tuesday. The seat backs they have for testing are for Tuscan. If I get chance over the weekend I will look to take a seat back off and report on how easy/hard it is. I will then leave this with them to mold.
I've also cleaned up my diffuser and will be taking that aswell for a quote.

You're correct Parvs...but we don't have Tuscan seats now do we?
Sorry folks, but unless any of you have any better knowledge (highly possible) I tried to remove the seat backs today as Shep said and although they loosed without the hex head bolts, they show no signs of coming away. I don't want to push it and do any damage...it looks like the only option would be to get some Tuscan seats and go that route.
I'll still post pics and info for anyone interested in the other bits on offer.
